The original board is ideally made to fish using jigs targeting fish that's suspended, staging up in creeks in a pre-spawn mode, mostly following bait schools and are not concentrated on specific structures. The theory is to put lots of lures in the strike zone and cover water (slowly, 0.7 or 0.8 mph).
The advantage of using boards is that you can cover a lot of water they also really help line management when turning and keeping lines from getting tangled when you hook fish. These bright orange planers will disturb the surface and act as a front-runner with the bait typically 2 - 40 feet behind the board. With your wide coverage and separation of lines, you have the ability to turn 180 degrees in an acre of water. This gets you back to the action quickly.
The Magnum boards were designed to pull your favorite crankbait, bait fish or long line. These boards can handle any length or depth you wish to run using crankbaits and can handle a 6" bait fish.
Crappie Reaper Planer Board Instructions
1. Inspect boards and make sure line clips are not broken. 2. While holding the planer board the Crappie Reaper label should be facing you with the top clip on the upper right for the left sided board and to the upper left on the right sided board. Each label has left or right printed on them. 3. Let out the desired depth at which you wish to troll. 4. At the depth you wish to troll place line from rod into the top clip and then down to the bottom clip, make sure clip hooks are aligned with holes to secure the line and to keep it from sliding. 5. Place your board in the water, let out line to the desired distance you want your board to run from your boat. Once the line has tightened the planer board will move out away from the boat at your desired length. 6. See picture above to get maximum water coverage using your boards. |
